Farnaz Farrokhi

Multidisciplinary Artivist, Curator & Educator · Founder of OBITSC (OUR BLOOD IS THE SAME COLOR)

Farnaz Farrokhi is a Human Being, Woman, Global Citizen, and artivist whose work affirms art’s power as a catalyst for social change, global transformation, and climate action. Based in NYC, she brings a uniquely multidisciplinary perspective to her practice as an International Artivist and Curator, Art Performer, Sculptor, Photographer, Painter, and Educator. As the visionary founder of the non-profit OBITSC (OUR BLOOD IS THE SAME COLOR), she empowers artists—especially women—who harness their creative voice to confront and raise awareness about human rights and climate-related issues. Her approach is grounded in 15+ years of experience as an entrepreneur, team leader, architect, senior art director, cultural bridge-builder, and activist. Through extensive global travel and with dual master’s degrees in architecture and fine art (Indiana–Purdue University), her academic rigor and global perspective shape a practice devoted to art, peacemaking, and education in service of sustainable change.

Farrokhi champions multidisciplinary collaborations aligned with OBITSC’s mission to generate groundbreaking work for human rights and environmental sustainability. Her initiatives emphasize art’s transformative capacity to drive social change, foster collaborative innovation, and advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly those connected to Human Rights, Global Peace, and Climate Action.

ARTIST STATEMENT

As a multidisciplinary artist, Farrokhi channels creative energy to illuminate humanity’s capacity for change and growth. Her primary medium is Performance Art, developed through her master’s thesis and articulated in her Magnifier Theory, which explores how the artist’s presence and body can empower audiences to speak against human rights violations without requiring political literacy—inviting collective collaboration toward action. The color red is central to her language, symbolizing the axiom that “our blood is the same color.” This universal element—shared by all—signifies life’s essence and the pain inherent in any violation of human dignity. Born and raised in the Middle East, she draws from lived experiences of political and social oppression, the aftereffects of war, migration, and the liberating force of artistic expression. Farrokhi believes a collaborative movement—beginning with the artist’s mind and body and extending through the audience’s empathy and participation—can catalyze tangible, transformative change.

CURATOR STATEMENT

As a curator and change-maker, Farrokhi is committed to presenting artworks that bridge cultures and foster dialogue across borders. Her curatorial vision highlights art that addresses our most urgent concerns—human rights violations, the climate crisis, and social justice—bringing together diverse communities, artists, and leaders to inspire collective action. Through OBITSC, she uplifts women artists and supports global collaborations that cultivate empathy and unity in the face of shared challenges. She conceives exhibitions not merely as displays of talent but as calls to action: platforms where art sparks conversation and galvanizes communities toward a more equitable, sustainable future. By uniting artists with stakeholders from multiple sectors, Farrokhi cultivates a cultural movement that transcends geographic, political, and ideological borders—advancing climate action, advocating for human rights, and promoting sustainable practices. Grounded in her Magnifier Theory, her curatorial work amplifies social, environmental, and political issues to deepen public engagement and build a powerful collective force for meaningful change.
